I have been fishing now with Andes Drifters on two separate occasions. I can say without any hesitation whatsoever that these guys are the premier guide service for Argentina Anglers or someone who just wants a first class glimpse into Patagonia! The accomodations are excellent whether it is a tent camp on the banks of the Limay or a first class lodge. These guys are true professionals. Each guide is top notch and fun to spend a week fishing with. I love Patagonia and I plan on many more trips back to this magical place. I will always use Andes Drifters. The people in this organization will become part of your family and you'll never regret giving them your trust! I'll be back soon!
Great group of guys! They've been around awhile too, since my father has known them for quite some time, so their knowledge of the local terrain is superb.

That is saying something -- being in Durango, the tiny creeks and rivulets run rampant and the number of good fishing holes are absolutely countless... these guys know them all. Get in line w/ this group, and they'll ensure that you have a pretty flippin' awesome experience.
Descripción (Animas River, Durango, Colorado, Estados Unidos)
One of the last free-flowing rivers in the state of Colorado, the Animas River is a unique and rare treasure. With the newest and one of the best Gold Medal Water fly-fishing sections in Colorado, the Animas is a river that should be on your list of places to fish.
The Animas River is the major stream draining the high alpine terrain of the Needle Mountains. It heads in small meadows on the flanks of Cinnamon Mountain north of Silverton, then plunges through wild canyons as it carves a route between the Needle and West Needle Mountains. By the time it reaches Durango, the Animas has grown to a large river. Out of the mountains the Animas meanders through a shallow depression across broad plains. South of the New Mexico border at Farmington the Animas joins the San Juan River.
The Animas Ver más... is big water. In Durango the river is almost 100 feet wide, filled with huge rocks and deep holes. The river offers extensive riffles, freestone conditions, and stretches of pocket water. The Animas is home to rainbows and browns. They are strong, smart trout that are doing well in the river. The big water grows some large fish, and the Animas has a reputation for large trout. Most of the fish in the river are in the 10- to 15-inch range, but the potential for a lunker is real. A past state-record brown trout weighing over 20 pounds was wrestled from the Animas in the 1950s. Fishing for browns is often a difficult proposition involving weighted streamers and hundreds of casts for a few fish. Rainbow fishing is more consistent and offers the dry-fly fishermen a chance to find plenty of good-sized trout.

Descripción (San Juan River, Navajo Dam, New Mexico, Estados Unidos)
The San Juan River is truly one of America's greatest tailwater fisheries. Fishing for brown and rainbow trout is fantastic 365 days a year. The water flows cold from Navajo Dam and contains so much aquatic bug life that it allows for trout to grow large and strong. A float trip on the San Juan River is an unforgettable fishing experience.
The San Juan River below Navajo Dam, just a scenic and easy sixty minute drive from Durango, Colorado. Duranglers has been guiding fly fishing trips on the San Juan River longer than any other guide service. The San Juan River is one of the great tailwater fisheries anywhere and for that reason many fishermen are drawn to the Four Corners area. At the same time many fishermen are not aware that only a one hour drive north will bring them to more tro Ver más...ut waters like the Animas, Piedra and Dolores Rivers to name a few. For those looking for more variety and diversity than just the San Juan, Durango is the most central location to fish all the waters available.
Even with all the great fly fishing diversity in our area, the San Juan River below Navajo Dam has always been our specialty. The San Juan is a very unique fishery and tends to frustrate many fishermen with its very small flies and unusual fish behavior. Our guide staff is very experienced with many years of guiding. A wade or float trip on the San Juan with one of our guides is always an educational experience whether its your first trip to the San Juan or you have been here a number of times before.

Descripción (San Juan Mountain Creeks, Durango, Colorado, Estados Unidos)
The Creeks within an easy drive of Durango Colorado offer some of the finest freestone, pocket water fishing to be found in the US. Being located in the 9000 to 10,000 foot elevation they also offer spectacular scenery. Depending on the Creek you will find an abundance of Rainbow, Brown and Brook Trout. There are also areas to find our Native Colorado River Cutthroat! The fish are opportunistic feeders given the short growing season (June to November) and will readily rise to the attractor dry fly. These are not to be missed fisheries for the novice as well as the accomplished fly anglers.
Many of the streams can be reached road but if you like to hike a little or a lot the amount of water to explore is almost limitless.
The Weminuche Wilderness is our local wilderness area that offers a Ver más... high country fishing experience for cutthroat, brook, rainbow, and brown trout. At 488,210 acres, it is the largest wilderness area in the state of Colorado. We offer single day and multi day backpacking or pack trips into this pristine wilderness to hunt for native and non-native trout species.

Descripción (Piedra River, Durango, Colorado, Estados Unidos)
The Piedra River is one of our favorite streams in southern Colorado. A small river flowing through granite box canyons and tilting sedimentary rocks, the Piedra is more intimate than most other streams draining the San Juans. The complex stream structure and currents make each section of the Piedra interesting and plucking trout from its waters challenging. Add to that the fact that the Piedra is a wild stream with few miles accessible by vehicle and you’ve got nearly perfect trout water.
The Piedra supports a large population of browns, rainbows, and cutbows, with many fish in the 12- to 14-inch class. On a good day fish seem to charge out from every lie to take flies. Just up from the U.S. 160 bridge near Lower Piedra Campground stocked rainbows dominate, but most trout in the long c Ver más...entral valley are wild fish. Deep pools hold difficult-to- fool browns. Most of the rainbows are wild, strong, hard-fighting fish; the browns are wily fighters who often jump and who use rocks and currents to help them do their best to snap leaders.
A large population of stoneflies is found in the Piedra River, especially in and below the Second Box Canyon. Both Pteronarcys and Hesperoperla are found in the swift water and you will not want to head here with out an assortment of stonefly nymphs and dries.

Descripción (Rio Grande River, Creede, Colorado, Estados Unidos)
Every Summer, from mid June to Mid July, we float the Rio Grande River. This is truly the highlight of our summer guiding season as most often, we are fishing big dries. The Rio Grande River is truly a dry fly paradise and it certainly seems that the fish prefer to eat on top. Hatches of stoneflies, caddis, green drakes, PMDs, yellow stones, grey drakes and the famous salmonfly occur throughout our floating season....and sometimes all at once.
